We had recently moved to Bakersfield and were going on a family reunion vacation. We looked for pet sitters and found several, but then we researched more and found Kara Cares. We knew her company was the one, because it’s all about how she will care for our dogs. Talk about organization and well thought out dog care. It was clear to us that her company is truly about caring for our dogs! We had a very relaxing vacation, knowing that our dogs were happily taken care of. I have used Kara Cares on multiple occasions over the past 3 years. I have 2 dogs and prefer to keep them at home while I'm out of town, rather than at a kennel.

I have received excellent, competent, and conscientious service from Kara and her employees.

I receive pictures and texts twice a day. The mail is picked up and even sorted for me. Dirty dishes are cleaned and plants are watered. Dog doo in the backyard is picked up and thrown out. I always receive a hand written thank you note. Kara left gifts for my dogs for the holidays.

It's hard to enjoy a vacation when you're preoccupied with worry about your pets. Kara alleviates this problem and improves my vacation enjoyment. I am thankful to have access to Kara Cares.

About Us

Hi there!

Thank you so much for visiting our site.

My name is Kara Hill and I was born and raised in Bakersfield, CA. I moved away in 2003 to attend UC Santa Barbara and I stayed in the beautiful beach community for about 14 years. During my stay, I was employed at a wholesale fashion jewelry company, where I gained extensive knowledge of customer service. I was also employed at a pet sitting company, where I had so much fun getting to know clients and their pets, and gained much knowledge about the pet and house sitting industry.

From this time in Santa Barbara, I always had a dream of starting my own pet sitting business one day, and providing impeccable customer service (something I always strive for, and enjoy experiencing!).

After my partner and I moved back to Bakersfield in 2018 and adopted Ash (maltese/terrier mix) and Kanga (terrier mix), I realized how vital it is to have access to wonderful in-home services like Kara Cares offers. Now that we also have two young children, these luxury services mean that much more to me, and I'm thrilled to be offering them in my hometown.
